objects we live with should have personality.

The studio
krugrug is an independent design studio from serbia, creating handcrafted rugs, tapestries and objects with a strong focus on colour, texture and form.
each piece is made by hand, primarily from natural serbian wool, combining traditional material with a contemporary, playful approach to design. the process is deliberately slow and tactile – every object carries the marks of the hand that made it, making small imperfections part of its character.
krugrug pieces are created as one-of-a-kind works or in limited quantities. from sculptural rugs and wall tapestries to furniture, leather accessories and experimental lighting, the studio moves freely between art, craft and functional design.
at the heart of krugrug is a simple idea: objects we live with should have personality. they can be useful, beautifully made and still make us smile. handmade in serbia.

How a rug gets made
- Sketch Shapes and colours on paper first, often drawn around the room the rug is going to live in.
- Frame & trace The drawing is projected and traced, back to front, onto cloth stretched tight over a big wooden frame.
- Tuft Wool is shot through the cloth with a tufting gun, colour by colour, in cut pile, loop pile or long shag.
- Sculpt Shears and a carving tool give the surface its hills, valleys and clean edges between colours.
- Back & finish Glued, backed and cut out along its outline. Only then does it get its name.
